Practical Classes

Term 1 2026:

Practical Classes are held on Mon, Weds & Thurs in weeks 2-9 each term
Term 1 is 09 Feb - 10 April

Class is from 10am to 3:00pm, & the studio is open until 4:30pm each day.

Our Toi Kaiako ("TK") / Tutors will guide you in learning the practical & technical skills required in each discipline. 

(Note - there are no Practicals on Tuesdays. Instead we have Creativity Workshops. All enrolled students are encouraged to attend. You don't need to register, just turn up in person or online - go to the school calendar on ORA for the link)

How to register

Visit each class page above for more information, make your choices, and register online. There are a limited number of places available in each Practical, so when a class is full, registration will close.

However, enrolled students can still attend a Practical they haven't registered for if there is space in the studio - ask the TK on the day.

Materials Passes

Some Practicals require a Materials Pass to cover additional materials supplied by TLC for use in the studio. These are classes that use specialist studios, such as Print, Ceramics and Jewellery

We'll come to the studio with our mobile eftpos, or you can buy your materials pass at the TLC shop. There'll always be classes that don't require a Materials Pass available. Please note, you'll need to supply your own art materials for all classes, unless covered by a materials pass. 

Casual Students

Casual students over 16 are welcome to attend Practicals if space is available. The cost is $660 for 8 sessions per term (no charge for sessions that fall on a public holiday). Some Practicals have an additional cost for materials supplied by the tutor and / or require you to purchase your own materials.
